Wickaways

These have got to be some of the best fabrics ever created for the spring and fall transition months. Warm, lightweight, and easy to care for. Wickaways are a general class of fabrics all designed to wick moisture away from the body. If you want the look and feel of cotton but the moisture wicking capability and low moisture retention of nylon? Then you want to try these new "wickaway" fabrics.

Capilene is a treated polyester fabric. The fiber surface is treated to wick water while the core repels water. The combination lifts water away from the skin toward the outer clothing layers without soaking the fiber and retaining the water. Capilene comes in five weights: Silk, Light, Mid, Stretch and Expedition.

Coolmax is DuPont's naturally water-repelling polyester with fiber cross sections that yield strong wicking action.

Maldens Wicking Powerdry This soft, stretchy fabric is the best technical underwear of the outdoor market gear. It is ideal for shirts and aerobic wear. It outperforms all next-to-skin fabrics because of its patented construction that has two unique surfaces: the soft inner layer rapidly wicks perspiration away from the body, while the outer layer spreads the moisture for maximum evaporation.

Excellent for underwear, beach cover-ups, shirts, lightweight sweatshirts. Makes a great lining fabric.
